I’ve had problems with a frequent urination all my life, but I never attached much importance to it. It’s a true that when people at work started to mock me for going 10 times an hour, I thought that it might not be quite right, but I hadn’t actively addressed it at that time.

It didn’t really limit me, except for travelling. I’ve significantly reduced my trips to places where I hadn’t mapped out my toilet options. And even so, it was a big stress for me. I was worried that I may not be able to get to the toilet because it would be locked.

I was afraid that people would laugh at me for always having to go to a bathroom.

The other problem with that was at work. I’m a kindergarten teacher working with young children, and when you need to go to the bathroom 10 times in an hour, it becomes a problem to always find a replacement, even if it’s just for a minute. So, I tried to keep it a secret, but it wasn’t pleasant.

It was a bladder stone problem that finally got me into urology. While I was there, though, I mentioned that I was also going to the bathroom a lot, and after an examination I was immediately given a diagnosis: overactive bladder.

Come to think of it, it never occurred to me to talk to anyone about such things. But since I got the diagnosis of overactive bladder and have been talking about it with those around me, I was surprised how many people have the same problems and how common the condition is.

I was given a choice of two treatments – medication or URIS. I’ve had a lifelong problem with medication, due to a gastric reflux, so I dismissed medication and agreed to the second treatment option via URIS.

I picked up the URIS device at a doctor’s office and went with a friend to her parents’ farm the very next day. The URIS device went with us. The doctor instructed me on how to set up the device and I was then able to manage on my own without any problems even in an unfamiliar environment. There is nothing difficult about it, everything is very intuitive.

All in all, the fact that I didn’t have to travel anywhere for the stimulation sessions and had the device in my home for 3 months was a huge plus. I always turned the machine on after work, sat down in front of the TV, and many times fell asleep during stimulation. The stimulation doesn’t hurt at all and it’s not unpleasant. You just have to find a right stimulation spot and then one does not even know that something is happening.

The results came after I had completed all 12 stimulations. I used to go to the toilet 10 times and now, even when I’m very stressed, I only go 3 times an hour at most. In addition, I can go 2 hours without having to go to the toilet. That didn’t happen before.

I am very satisfied with the treatment. It didn’t bother me in any way, it was without side effects, I could do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. For example, I could schedule my stimulation as it suited me, I could travel, I could set it up myself, even how strong I wanted the stimulation impulses. But most importantly, it has been two years now since the completion of the treatment and the problems have not returned. Nothing restricts me now, I can travel longer distances in my car without having to stop at the first gas station, I can travel abroad without concerns and overall, I am much less stressed and feel free.
